Night of the Homeless
The unseen homeless population in the United States is continuing to grow. Since the financial crisis of 2008, the lack of affordable housing, mental illness, drug addiction, alcoholism, poverty, and dysfunctional families, homelessness has spread from the major cities to smaller communities. By vacant malls, rundown apartment complexes, and in remote alleyways, the homeless dwell - surviving on refuse and the warmth of burning dumpsters. How can one imagine the wealthiest nation in the world seeking to balance the nation’s fiscal budget by cutting programs designed to protect the poor and disabled?
