Every spring three different colored lilac bushes bloomed outside the kitchen and dining room windows. From the open windows, the scent of lilac flowers permeated the entire house. Memories from my childhood first began in the old colonial house that was richly landscaped with lilac bushes, pink rhododendrons, azaleas, holly trees, dogwoods, ivy, forsythia and evergreens. Every spring my mother would arrange the multi-colored lilac blooms in a vase that she put on the kitchen table. “Bluebird and Lilac” is a hand-painted digital image and photo composite created in Spadecaller’s Florida Studio on 4/12/2023.
