Description This grey whale was stranded in the Klamath River in Northern California during June - August 2011. She became something of a local celebrity, with several blogs dedicated to her plight. Her pup eventually weaned and swam back to sea, but the mother remained in the river until her death August 16, 2011. Cause of death was not determined; she was well-norished until the end. Tourists as well as many locals visited her daily as she swam back and forth under the bridge on Highway 101. Some even seranaded her with violins, frame drums, and other instruments.
