Perfect! I have an Audubon egret print waiting to be framed, but I even like yours better! I'm not sure if a heron is an egret. This is so beautiful!

Thanks Patricia! You're right. There is still confusion in classifying egrets and herons. The classification of some heron/egret species has been controversial and confusing, and there is still no clear consensus about the correct placement of many species into either of the two major genera, Ardea and Egretta. The best rule of thumb is this: Egrets are not a biologically distinct group from the herons, and are usually named differently because they are mainly white and/or have decorative plumes. Despite the fact that egrets have the same build as the larger herons, they usually are smaller.
