Downsized
“Trickle-down economics” was once the philosophy used to justify lowering taxes on the richest Americans, giving corporations unregulated control, and granting corporate welfare to stimulate growth. The phony promise politicians made to the middle class and poor was that everyone else would get more jobs and more money - the success of the richest Americans would trickle down to the rest of the population. Many Americans were fooled by this national scam until their jobs began leaving the states and their unions started collapsing. The corporations betrayed American workers by seeking cheap labor in foreign nations. When the corporations saw that they need not answer to anyone, rampant corruption, greed, and unregulated speculation forced our nation into a financial collapse during the Bush administration. The new scam today is called “downsizing big government,” which is really the same old game with a few new twists. Give tax breaks to the richest Americans, shrink government spending by cutting education, Medicare, Medicaid, and the welfare programs that provide the safety nets for the poor and middle class who no longer have access to high paying jobs because they were shipped over to other countries. Downsizing is the term used to justify giving tax breaks to the rich by taking away more from the people. The sad truth is what it really means: hunger for millions of Americans and unprecedented wealth for millionaires and billionaires.
