The title of the sculpture and the digital painting, Let Us Beat Swords into Plowshares comes from the Book of Isaiah found in the Bible. This is a digital painting of a sculpture by Soviet Yevgeny Vuchetich (1908 -1974), who donated the sculpture to the United Nations Art Collection in 1959. As the cold war was in progress and the rapid proliferation of nuclear arms threatened a global holocaust, this powerful work of art became a priceless gesture of hope for peace. The hope that our world will find peace continues to be a driving force for Russia, United States, and a world threatened by terrorism, greed, and hunger.
