Terns Homeward Bound
The arctic tern is strongly migratory. After leaving its northern breeding grounds located in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of Europe, Asia, and North American (as far south as Brittany and Massachusetts), it sees two summers along its long and winding route to Antarctica. After reaching Antarctica, the terns head home again; a round-trip distance of 44,300 miles.
