Sandhill Cranes at Lake Rousseau
People in cultures all over the world have been inspired by the beautiful Sandhill Crane. After bowing respectfully, stretching their wings, leaping into the air, and pumping their heads, they complete the intricate courting ritual and choose their mates for life. The future of the Sandhill Crane is mainly tied to their habitat. Sandhill Cranes usually nest in discrete and isolated wetlands, such as marshes and bogs, or within about a few hundred yards of a wetland habitat. This pair visits Lake Rousseau in Florida every winter.
