Three Beagles
While this happy-go-lucky breed is a very popular family dog that is great with children in addition to being excellent hunting dogs, they are the most abused. Out of all the dogs used for research purposes, the beagle heads the list. Their natural instinct to trust and cooperate with humans makes them easiest to manipulate. During the summer of 2022, the Animal Rescue Team of the Humane Society with the support of their shelter and rescue partners, removed nearly 4,000 beagles from the Envigo mass breeding facility. Many of these dogs were bound for animal testing laboratories across the country. Multiple Animal Welfare Act violations for inadequate veterinary care and insufficient food were issued. The Animal Rescue Team brought these beagles to shelters and rescue partners across the country. By Sept. 1, 3,776 beagles were on their way to loving homes! “Three Beagles,” is a hand-painted digital image and photo composite created in Spadecaller’s Florida Studio on 11/28/20222.
