Memorial Day is not Veterans Day; it is the day set aside each year for remembering the men and women who died while serving during times of war and military conflict. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans. In contrast to the fact that Memorial Day has become a big commercial holiday, the impact on the families and loved ones of those lives lost in the line of duty remains profound and personal. The rudimentary basis for this holiday is to bring solace to the loved ones for their grief and to remember the people who sacrificed their lives. Do they want balloons for Memorial Day sales extravaganzas? I do not believe so. I think there are better excuses for store specials.
