Frangipani and Mantis Sunset
As the sunsets, the praying mantis is ready for the hunt. The colorful Frangipani flower surprisingly does not store nectar. However, these flowers are most fragrant - especially at night. Their powerful fragrance attracts the sphinx moths to pollinate them. The flowers without nectar simply dupe their pollinators. The moths inadvertently pollinate them by transferring pollen from flower to flower in their fruitless search for nectar. The beautiful fragrance of the frangipani flower brings both life and death to its visitors.

Thanks Heinz. Such an interesting flower. After spotting the praying mantis under the canopy of these flowers, curiosity led me to learn about them.

Amazing image! Frangiapani in any form is intoxicating, my favorite tree here in the Keys.
