Mangrove Hummingbird

The mangrove hummingbird is endangered due to loss of habitat. The selective logging for charcoal production are destroying mangrove habitats in Costa Rica, where they originate. The Pacific coast of Costa Rica is under heavy development pressure, with potentially negative effects on mangrove forests. The bird feeds principally on wildflowers in and around the mangrove forests.
