Osprey with Speckled Trout
Ospreys are unique among hawks as they possess a reversible outer toe that allows them to grasp prey with two toes in front and two behind. The soles on their feet are barbed which helps them grip slippery fish. When flying with prey, an Osprey lines up its catch headfirst for less wind resistance. This image is a hand-painted digital painting and photo composite that includes a modified digital reproduction of Tropical Landscape by Norton Bush (1876). “Osprey with Speckled Seatrout” was created in Spadecaller’s Florida Studio on 2/24/2023.
