Chipmunk and Oak
As the oak leaves turn color and the acorns ripen, the chipmunk hurries to stash away the Autumn harvest. The industrious chipmunk darts around collecting acorns and nuts to store away in their underground burrows, where they will spend the long winter sleeping. Occasionally, they will come out if the weather is warm. A chipmunk digs a maze of branching tunnels 12 to 30 feet underground. When it gets cold, the animal sleeps there for two or three weeks, then wakes up, eats a meal, and goes back to sleep. “Chipmunk and Oak,” is a digital painting and composite.
