Boasting to all his neighbors, Farmer Ming told everyone about a huge pumpkin that he was growing in his patch. After calling everyone together, he marched out into the field. He was gone for a long time, while his friends waited. Finally, they disbanded grumbling about the time they wasted. One man said, “maybe he couldn’t find the great pumpkin.” After cutting the pumpkin off the vine, old Farmer Ming realized that it was too heavy to make it back up the hill to his house. With the pumpkin in his wheelbarrow, he took the long way home to avoid the hill. When he arrived, he saw that everyone had left. Only his two geese were impressed with the mammoth pumpkin. With loud honks, barks, and cackles, they joyfully paraded around the pumpkin. His geese loved eating pumpkin and pumpkin seeds.
