Enchanted Doe
An enchanted doe once lived in a dense forest. Her name was Yong. When she pranced through the forest everyone was charmed by her beauty. More importantly, Yong was gifted with wisdom; and from her memory of her past life, she had retained the ability to converse in the human language. Knowing the cruelty of some human beings, she avoided any encounter with them. Yet, Yong still felt compassion to all alike. One day as she rested under a cherry tree, she heard a heart-rending shriek. When she looked in the direction of the sound, she saw a man being swept away by the turbulent waters of the stream. Witnessing his pitiful distress, her heart filled with compassion. Attempting to rescue him, Yong jumped into the water and ordered the man to cling fast to her. The man panicked. Instead of clinging to her, he climbed onto her delicate back. Struggling with his hefty body the deer bore his heavy weight and brought the man safely on the river-bank. With her warm caresses, Yong comforted the shivering man until he regained consciousness. When the man’s senses returned, Yong stood back and spoke: “Please go back to your own fellow beings!” To thank her, he then shared his gratitude. “In my lifetime no friend nor kinsman has ever done what you have done for me. I owe my life to you. Gratefully at your service, I shall always be. Please instruct me to do something for you.” The doe then replied. “I ask you only to promise me you will tell no one that you were rescued by a creature such as me - the most desirable prey for any man. As the hearts of most men have little mercy and no restraint.” The Enchanted Doe is a Spadecaller digital painting.

How wonderful this is! It should not only be a fairy tale illustration but she be the basis for the fairy tale itself.
