Sailing Southern Seas
Sweet Southern Seas I meditate with wind and waves Recalling mem’ry trace I’ve saved this sense from younger days When both were commonplace! A beach, a bay, an island breeze Were what I came to know, The sound of wind within palm trees Were things I’d not outgrow. ‘Twas sailing that would take my heart To space of solitude -- And silent times that would impart Grand sense of gratitude! So now in life when mountains loom I’m sailing in my mind, I close my eyes and soon consume What time has left behind! Poem By Joy A. Burki-Watson
