Cap-des-rosiers Lighthouse is the tallest beacon built by the Canadian Coast Guard in Québec. At the top of a steep cliff, the lighthouse towers over the mouth of the Saint Lawrence River, where it flows into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. This is a digital painting and composite. The lighthouse extends 34.1 meters (112 feet) into the air. Its white marble walls over 2.1 meters (7 feet) thick at the base taper off to 0.9 meters (3 feet) at the top of the tower. The edifice rests on a foundation rooted 2.4 meters (8 feet) deep into the ground. Its powerful light, rises 41.4 meters (136 feet) over the sea. Erected in 1858, it has guided ships without fail.
