Chukar Partridges
Chukar partridge is an upland gamebird in the pheasant family. Native to the Middle East and southern Asia, the Chukar was brought as a game bird to North America, where it has thrived in some arid regions of the west. From late summer to early spring, they travel in coveys. Chukars are ground-dwelling birds that prefer walking or running. Easily outpacing a human, they traverse rocky slopes with ease hopping from rock to rock. When frightened they burst into the air with a piercing squeal they burst into the air.
