Sparrow and Bowl of cherries
The Tree Sparrow is native to the old world. About 20 of these birds from Germany were released in St. Louis in 1870. The population took hold there but did not progress because of the more aggressive House Sparrow. Tree Sparrows are still found in some areas of Missouri, Illinois, and southeastern Iowa, but they are local in farmland and suburbs. Like other sparrows, they are sociable birds and will often drop by for a quick snack during picnics and outdoor events. “Sparrow and Bowl of Cherries” is a mixed media digital painting.
