This image was created in accordance with the practice of composing flower arrangements, better known by the Japanese as Ikebana. Ikebana literally means “living flower” or “the way of the flower.” Closely related to Zen traditions, this practice was started in the 7th century. Ikebana is an art-form with meditative value. Creating an arrangement or composition is done in silence to allow the artist to observe and meditate on the beauty of nature resulting in the attainment of greater inner peace. Experienced Ikebana artists realize the importance of space, which is not meant to be filled, but created and preserved in the composition. This ties into other principles of Ikebana including minimalism, shape and line, form, humanity, aesthetics, and balance. This digital artwork is hand-painted composite created by Spadecaller.
